Each Retreat includes an organic Juice Fast of 3 or more days plus a Nutrition Education program designed to put you on the fast track for good health and vitality. Small groups of under 5 participants encourages a supportive and personalized experience.

Your experience will begin with a FRESH JUICE AND RAW FOOD FAST with fresh organic vegetables and fruits for health, detoxifying and cleansing. Exercise and meditation will also be a part of your journey to health.

During your visit, you will participate in classes and seminars with topics that include:

Rose Forbes, a Board Certified Nutrition Consultant and Holistic Health Practitioner, will be managing the retreat program.

A personalized nutrition consultation and lifestyle analysis will be offered for each participant. You will begin by keeping a food journal and completing a detailed nutrition survey and questionnaire before arriving for your Health Retreat.

Why A Juice Fast?

Most of us do not consistently eat an optimal diet based on fresh organic vegetables, fruits, clean meats and dairy and whole grains. Although our bodies were designed to be self-cleansing and self-healing, we are not supporting our inate abilities when we don't eat natural foods. A steady combination of pesticides, hormones, vaccines, toxic body care products, food and environmental chemicals, refined and processed foods, preservatives, artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners can all add up to trouble.

One of the best methods to get your digestive system back on track is to fast. Fasting is not a new concept. Humans have fasted for religious and spiritual reasons for centuries. Even animals fast when they are feeling ill. The idea behind a fast is to give your digestive system a rest - including stomach, liver, gall bladder and intestines. 50 - 70% of your body's immunity is found in the digestive system, so it makes sense to keep it clean to reduce your chance of disease. Maintaining an alkaline ph environment rather than an acidic one can keep disease and cancer out of your life.

A juice fast that uses fresh and organic vegetables and fruits will give your body the basic nutrients it needs to perform non-digestive functions, while restricting all solid foods and fibers to encourage rest and repair. Your body naturally completes a rest and repair function every night while you sleep. However, it may not be sufficient enough to undue the accumulated damage caused to your organs.

Strict water fasts encourage toxins to release at a much faster rate and can be unsafe for some people. A juice fast lasting 3 -7 days is one of the safest methods to cleanse.

What Will I Experience During a Juice Fast?

Before you begin your fast, you will need to prepare your body for restricted calories and nourishment. Starting a week prior to your fast, you will focus on eating only natural foods in their original state. This means mostly raw vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds. You will eliminate meat, dairy and grains during this period as well as alcohol, caffeine, soft drinks and bottled juices.

The first day of your fast will probably be the hardest. When we first tell ourselves we can't have something (like food) that's all we can think about. The second day gets easier and the third and beyond is really no problem avoiding food.

Rose Forbes, Nutritional ConsultantYou'll be able to drink lots of water, herbal teas and fresh juices. You will probably have improved clarity of thought and a feeling of "lightness". Some may experience symptoms of toxins trying to get out, sometimes referred to as a "healing reaction" or "healing crisis". These symptoms are usually mild and can include flu-like aches, headache, stomach cramps, among others. Your toxins will release in the order that they accumulated, meaning the most recent will be able to leave first, and your oldest toxins will be the hardest to remove and take the longest.

Your diet, when coming off your fast, is even more important than before or during the fast. Make a mistake here and you could undo all the good you've accomplished with the fast. You'll need to start eating very small portions of only raw vegetables and fruits. The first day off the fast you'll eat 1/4 -1/2 cup of food every 2-3 hours. The second and third day you can increase your portion size based on how you feel, but still only eating raw fruits and vegetables. After day 4, you can begin adding some cooked food or nuts into your routine, like homemade soups or stews or stir-fried vegetables. Adding meat, dairy and grains back into your diet should wait until 5 or more days following your fast. Clients with serious health conditions may require a physician's letter of approval to participate in the Juice Fast.

What Should I Bring?

The most important things you will bring to the Retreat are a positive attitude, an open mind and a commitment to change. Your commitment to better health must extend beyond the few days you spend at our Retreat. Committing to living differently will ensure your time and money is well spent.

To optimize your experience, you’ll be asked to read some specific books or materials, view internet videos, prepare for your fast by eating a raw diet one week before and one week after your Retreat and complete a variety of surveys and questionnaires to help me discover your unique needs. Clients who follow these directions will benefit with an easier fast and better understanding of the cleansing and lifestyle transition process.

Some items you may want to bring include comfy cotton clothes for exercise and learning, nicer clothes for sightseeing, a voice/tape recorder, notepad, journal, camera and sunglasses. If you plan to bring some books or magazines to read, please pack only positive and uplifting material and leave the murder mysteries at home.

All rooms can be shared. If you bring along a friend, you’ll save using the double rates. If you need help choosing a room, please give us a call and we can talk you through the options.

Add $90 for in-room massage or $75 for off-site colon irrigation during your stay.

*** Health Retreats of less than 4 days have a local commuter option that reduces the price when not staying overnight at our B&B. Please call for details. ***

Retreat rates are based on single occupancy. For double occupancy, add $625 per room for the 5 Night Retreat and add $450 per room for the 3 Night Retreat.
